The period film ‘Bajirao Mastani’ saw Deepika Padukone in an ethereal look. The fearless and mystical Mastani who was originally a warrior of sorts yet a feminine from her core was a challenge to bring about on the face of the artist. The opulence without being over the top, was the balance that had to be accomplished.
This bygone era look recreated by Vidya Tikari emphasised on beautiful, luminous and youthful looking skin. To start with, a dewy foundation is what defined the whole look. This was topped with a really light weight concealer. To sheer out the concealer and blend it with the skin, a damp sponge was used. For the blush a fresh colour like an apricot was used to enhance the look.
Going further, a brow pencil was used to straighten out the brows and rounding them up just like the one in the “Mohe Rang do Laal’ number. For the eyes one could start off with the lash primer both on the top and lower lash lines. Stick with a brown tone instead of a black to avoid a stark look. Top it up with a mascara of a similar hue. A brown mascara could help entrench a natural look. For the lips, an earthy pink or a terracotta red would seal the whole look.
Vidya Tikari speaks of the look recreated by her. “The Bajirao look is my current take on a fresh bridal look for the upcoming season, I loved the usage of monotone colours verses the highly pigmented coloured make up that we normally use. I have used the same natural velvet texture of foundation to compliment the clean look created”
