Rakhi kickstarts an array of forthcoming festivities in India. Since it’s a daytime festival and that time of year when humidity is soaring, it is imperative to keep your make up subtle and glitter free yet heaps of fun with the right combination of colours for your face.
A few commandments to stick to:-
- Ditch your cream based foundation for a light weight and airy mineral makeup as your base. The mineral makeup acts like a double edged sword. It contains SPF while the powder formula sucks in any oil or grease, lending a healthy, radiant finish.
- Steer clear of the eye shadow. Instead use kohl or kajal on the upper and lower lashline. Ensure that it is a smudge proof kajal as it could get soiled due to the heat and moisture during the monsoons.
- Fruity flush for your cheeks. Stroke your cheeks with warm shades of blush for that natural look. Use peach blush for a soft and an effective look.
- Pastels for your lips. Nudes, naturals are the colours to go for this festive season. A lip gloss can come to your rescue if you plan to skip the lip colour in all.
Our makeup maestro Vidya Tikari gives a few tips as well:-Apart from the mineral makeup a high definition makeup Forever Ultra Foundation or the Ultra HD foundation is a great option. It gives a beautiful, dewy, natural effect and is for all skin types. For lips one could use the nude, not-transfer lipstick. If one prefers matte keep it as is but for those who like gloss, one can add a little bit of lip tint on top of it or a clear lip gloss. For the eyes to add that bit of sparkle, one can add heavy metal urban decay eyeliners or any eyeliners which has a bit of glitter right on top of the liner which adds that bit of interest without using any heavy duty makeup.
